Problem and Solution
Process
The process involves building the design system and redesign the key screens, and these tasks are not linear but mutually influential, as the design system is continuously growing.
Problem
We talked with our client and took notes of the pain points he brought up in design discussion meetings. Before long, recurring themes began to surface.
- Fewer colors and typefaces to implement
- Reusable patterns
- The logo must stand out
- Get a cooperate theme color to speak for the brand
- Easy to find assets
- No need to think of new colors/styles all the time
Moodboards
Let's start with the style. Because the color of Greenphyto logo is green, we brainstormed four mood boards with different kinds of green.
Moodboard Finalization
After talking to our client and stakeholders, we decided to combine 'Joyful' and 'Futuristic'.
- "Combine the 'Joyful' one with 'Futuristic' one.""We use this software in indoor farm with workstation. Light background works better.""Corporate' is straight, 'Elegant' is too high-end maybe. 'Joyful' is happy to look at." ---- Famers
- " I like the 'Joyful' one. I like the warm feeling.""The 'Corporate' one is too cold.""I like the 'Elegant' one personally, but it might be too cold." ---- CEO
- "I like the 'Futuristic' one.""Light background works better for me.""I prefer use red, flashing colors rather something blue for alert." ---- CTO
Heuristic Evaluation
Let's revisit and analyze the problems of current screens.
So each screen has three parts, sidebars, header, and content area. We brainstormed the big structure of the key screens to make sure the consistency of the whole product. For different users, such as famers, administration stuff, and etc, they log in with the same layout but different sidebar items.
Following the big structure, we developed low-fidelity prototypes for the key screens.
